Measurable Academic Impact
Turning Summer Learning Loss into Academic Gains
Our boys show measurable growth each summer in reading and math, supported by dedicated interventionist instruction for those who need it most.
At the end of each summer,
- More students are performing at or above grade level.
- Fewer students are significantly behind in reading or math.
- All students return to their home school better prepared each fall.

Positive Emotional Impact
Confidence That Lasts a Lifetime
Social-emotional growth is at the heart of our work, helping students build resilience, joy, and strong connections alongside academic success. Using the Yale RULER Mood Meter, 4th-8th grade students self-report increased positive self-esteem at the end of each summer.
Believing In Themselves
Horizons students build confidence and self-worth through supportive relationships and meaningful accomplishments.
Developing Strong Sense of Self
Our program fosters resilience, self-awareness, and a positive mindset that students carry beyond the classroom.
Recognizing Their Achievements
Students take pride in their growth academically, socially, and personally, gaining motivation to keep striving.
Focused on the Future
From Horizons to Higher Ed
The results don't end in 8th grade.
Academic Excellence at Greenwich High School
Horizons alumni arrive in 9th grade at Greenwich High School prepared and confident for the next four years, with many enrolling in advanced and honors-level courses.
Selected for AVID College Readiness Program
Many are selected for the competitive AVID program, receiving the academic support and college prep resources they need to thrive in high school and beyond.
Onward to College and Careers
Every Horizons alumnus graduates from high school, and all who apply to college are accepted. Many return to our program as role models, working as as lifeguards and mentors.
Lifetime Skills
Building Life Skills for Students and Families
Swimming Instruction
Swimming is a vital life skill. At Horizons, it’s part of the core experience. Every student learns to swim, with some earning lifeguard certification.
Family Workshops
We support the whole family through bilingual workshops that cover essential topics like financial literacy, parenting strategies, and managing screen time.
Whole-Community Impact
Strengthening our Community
Reducing the educational equity gap in our community ultimately benefits all Greenwich residents.
